Thermador Specialists Only
Star Burner ranges, Professional rangetops, Freedom induction cooktops, Sapphire dishwashers and Freedom refrigeration columns. One brand, every day - which is why we get it right the first time.
Thermador engineering is specific in a way that rewards a technician who knows it. The Star Burner, ExtraLow, the Freedom induction surface and the column refrigeration line all behave unlike their equivalents from other manufacturers - and each of them fails in its own recognisable way.
A conventional burner is a ring of ports; a Star Burner is a star, with flame carried out along arms. The advantage is flame spread and even coverage under a pan. The consequence for service is that a single blocked arm starves one leg while the rest of the burner still looks healthy, and the cook notices it as a hot spot or a pan that browns unevenly rather than as a burner fault. Servicing one properly means clearing arm by arm, not treating it as a ring.
ExtraLow is the other piece of Thermador's cooking design worth understanding. It holds very low heat by cycling the flame rather than holding it steady, so gentle pulsing is normal and expected. Aggressive cycling, or a burner that goes out at the bottom of its range, is not - and the difference between those two behaviours is exactly what a technician who works on the platform is listening for.
Thermador column refrigeration is designed to be built flush into cabinetry, often as a paired refrigerator and freezer that read as a single unit. Flush installation is beautiful and it leaves very little airflow margin: everything the condenser needs comes through the toe-kick grille, and anything blocking it - trim added later, a settled panel, a filler strip - turns into a summer-only temperature problem that looks like a refrigeration fault.
The other column-specific issue is the door. These carry heavy custom panels on soft-close hardware, and when the damper tires, the door stops pulling fully home. The gap is usually invisible; the continuous load of humid Florida air on the evaporator is not. On a paired installation, which column is affected is genuinely useful information, because the healthy one tells us what the enclosure is doing.
The Freedom surface treats the whole glass as a continuous cooking area rather than as fixed zones, which is a very different control architecture from a four-coil cooktop. When something goes wrong it is rarely "the cooktop is dead" - it is one region misbehaving, or detection failing under certain pans, or zones cutting out after a period at high output. Where on the surface it happens, and under what load, identifies the module before anyone opens it.
Induction is also the appliance most affected by its own ventilation. The electronics sit under the glass and reject heat downward into the cabinet, and a blocked intake is the single most common cause of zones shutting off mid-cook. Keeping the space beneath the counter clear is not a suggestion on these units.
Thermador wall ovens use True Convection with a third element behind the fan, and it fails silently - bake and broil keep working, so the oven does not announce anything, it just stops producing even results across a full load. Double ovens need each cavity verified separately, because owners routinely assume both are drifting when only one is. SoftClose doors are the other recurring item: a door that slams, or stops short of the seal, needs the damper addressed rather than the oven recalibrated.
On the dishwashers, StarDry relies on rinse aid and condensation rather than on a heating element, so "it stopped drying" is frequently a rinse-aid or a sensor issue rather than a failed heater. Star-Speed spray arms narrow gradually on Tampa water, which shows up as declining results long before anything actually breaks, and the drain pump is where a new grinding noise deserves immediate attention rather than one more load.
A lot of Thermador in Tampa is installed in pairs - a refrigerator column beside a freezer column reading as one unit, or a double wall oven in a single stack. Owners usually describe the problem as belonging to the whole installation, and it almost never does. Testing both halves separately is the fastest way to a real diagnosis, and it costs nothing but a few minutes.
The reason it works is that the healthy half is a reference. If one column holds perfectly while its twin drifts every afternoon, the ambient conditions and the supply are ruled out immediately and the fault is inside one machine. If both drift together in the same pattern, the enclosure or the installation is the suspect rather than either appliance - and the fix is often airflow rather than a part.
The same logic applies to a double oven. One cavity baking unevenly while the other is accurate points at an element or a fan; both cavities reading low points somewhere shared. When you call, telling us which half misbehaves - and whether the other one is fine - is the single most useful thing you can say.
What Tampa Bay does to these machines
Flush-installed columns are the Thermador equipment most exposed to a Tampa summer: the ventilation margin is small by design, and a kitchen that sits in the high seventies for months leaves nothing in reserve. Induction modules run in that same warm cabinet air and are measurably more likely to cut out in August than in February. Hard water narrows dishwasher spray jets and scales heating elements on a predictable schedule here. And near the coast, salt reaches condenser fins and electrical terminations behind the toe-kick grille long before anything is visible from the kitchen.
When you call, tell us which appliance, which cavity or which part of the surface, and whether the problem is seasonal. On Thermador equipment that last detail frequently separates an enclosure problem from a component failure.

Yes. Sterling Home Group runs same-day Thermador service throughout Tampa, FL. Contact us before noon and a Thermador technician normally arrives the same day with the igniters, burner components and control parts these units need most.
The full Thermador line: Pro Harmony and Pro Grand ranges, Professional rangetops, Freedom induction and Masterpiece cooktops, built-in wall and steam ovens, Sapphire dishwashers, Freedom refrigeration and wine columns, and built-in coffee machines.
Yes - it is one of our most frequent Thermador calls. The star-shaped port pattern clogs differently from a conventional burner, so it is usually a fouled port, a cracked igniter or a failed spark module. We carry those parts and normally finish in one visit.
It depends on the appliance and the fault - an igniter replacement is a very different job from a sealed-system repair on a Freedom column. You approve the exact price before we start - nothing proceeds until you say yes.
Yes. Burner assemblies, igniters, induction power boards, thermostats, door gaskets and control modules are genuine OEM-spec. Thermador induction and ExtraLow systems in particular do not tolerate generic substitutes.
Every repair carries a 2-year warranty on parts and labor. If the same Thermador fault returns inside that period, we come back and put it right at no extra cost of charge.
Yes - fully licensed, trained and insured. Thermador ranges are high-output gas appliances, so gas connections, ventilation and safety checks are handled correctly on every single visit.
Usually a cooling fan that has lost airflow or a power module running hot and protecting itself. We test the module under load rather than guessing, so the fix actually holds.
We cover Tampa, FL and the surrounding Tampa Bay area, with same-day Thermador service available for most zip codes and scheduling built around your day.
Under a minute online or by phone. You get a real arrival window instead of an all-day wait, plus a text confirmation before the technician leaves.
